He works from Old Leigh Studios where he also runs a gallery space with work on show and for sale. He often gives talks and demonstrations to groups from here.

Madelaine Hanman Murphy

 

Madelaine currently works in porcelain, and Raku, a Japanese method of open-air firing. She is an experienced teacher,
workshop leader and also develops participatory projects with people of all ages. She currently runs classes from her studio in and also works peripatetically within a wide range of contexts.

Patchwork & Quilting

Hilary Jane

 

Hilary Jane teaches hand stitched patchwork and quilting using traditional methods. Class/ Workshop details are provided on her website. Bespoke workshops, demonstrations and parties can be arranged for groups at a venue of their choice. Hilary Jane is a member of The Quilters Guild and has a number of City and Guilds qualifications.

Sewing

Tilly and the Machine

 

Tilly and the Machine sew for a living, making and altering clothes as well as home furnishings. Sewing is a disappearing skill that Tilly and the Machine aim to keep alive by passing on their knowledge to future generations. Workshops and courses on all areas of sewing, offering beginner courses – dressmaking, curtains and homewares, or assistance with your own project.

Mosaics

Paul Siggins

 

Paul offers three-day Mosaic Master Classes and evening classes for the first time. He delivers highly popular mosaic workshops to schools throughout the UK creating stunning mosaics with thousands of children of all ages and abilities. Apprenticeship programmes for ages 17 to 24 years are available through The Mosaic Studio, alongside work experience and internships.

The Southend Spinners and Weavers Guild are a friendly, small group who meet once a month to share ideas and skills around spinning, weaving and other yarn related creations. Visitors are always welcome. Please contact to enquire about each month’s programme.
