Have a difficult conversation

Having a challenging conversation is a difficult thing to do, but an important thing to master. Self-belief and gaining the confidence to speak up is a learning process. There are a number of ways to approach this, to help you discuss difficult topics.

Where to Start

Approach the conversation with respect – be respectful of the past and appreciate that everyone’s story is different, and no two people are the same. Come from a respectful place that is open and willing to listen and learn.

Put aside any pre-conceptions that you may have and come into the conversation willing to understand other people’s views may be different to your own. Allowing the freedom to hear other people’s thoughts are important.

Embrace the discomfort of not knowing but have belief in yourself and your convictions.
